Secondhand Rapture - MS MR

Here's a stream of MSMR's upcoming debut album, Secondhand Rapture.  No real surprise in the sound of the album, most of it is in the same dark, poppy vein as their Candy Bar Creep Show EP.  It's definitely not bad though.  This is the sort of music I would do housework to I think.  I'm listening to it now and I'm packing.  Give it a listen, it's not too shabby.  If you're only going to check out one song on here, excluding the previously released material, I have to say I'm most partial to "Head Is Not My Home."

"Trying To Be Cool" - Phoenix

Just take a step back and listen..  Phoenix are really masters of the pop craft.  Mars' voice is just so perfect for the symphony of synths and sounds that Phoenix just love to use.

"Diane Young" - Vampire Weekend

Coming out with their first album in three years, ish, Vampire Weekend is back with Modern Vampires of the City, and I have to say, what I've heard so far is pretty great.  They've released a couple singles off it, and color me impressed.  I'm expecting this album to best their last, Contra.  Enjoy!

"Ghost VS" - The Belligerents

This band is one of my favorites.  I really just can't get enough of them.  It saddens me so that they're from so far away, it will take a while for them to make their way to North America from all the way down under.  This band is real quality! Give them your support, they really deserve it.
With a new EP on the way, set for release later in the year, I can only hope it lives up to their past work.  Their She Calls The Shots EP is a staple in my good-mood music playlist.  If you aren't familiar with it, it's definitely worth checking out!

I guess I'm just feeling very poppy right now.  This guy is great.  The internet is such a gift when it comes to music.  You just stumble onto artist after artist, and you just discover.  Based out of New York, Shaun Hettinger is a gifted musician.  Electric, not over-produced, and well put together; he knows what he's doing.

"Out Of My League" - Fitz and The Tantrums

What a great pop band.  Claim to fame with their hit "MoneyGrabber", which must have been a couple years ago now, they have a new album coming out in the near future.  The sort of music that will easily accompany any number of commercials and ads, this peppy production I have no doubt will make them staples of the summer of 2013.

"Fever Dream" - Young Summer

This has such a great mix of sounds.  Synth-heavy darker-pop instrumentals with Florence + The Machine like vocal quality.  Really great bit of synth-pop.  You get the sense that this band knew what sound they wanted to put out, and then just did, exactly as planned and without a hitch.

I guess I'm a pretty big fan of Phoenix, so of course I think it's pretty good.  I love their sound and I love the lead singers voice.  Give it listen.  You should definitely enjoy this one!

"Hello Alone" and "Speak To Me" - Charlie Winston

I know this is old stuff, but I'm a big fan of Charlie Winston, and his album Running Still has just been released in the US and the UK this week.  Give him a listen, he sounds great.

"Mauvaise Mine" - Lafayette (Jupiter Remix)

Some music just makes you want to dance.  That's what this is.  Almost has an 80's feel to it.

"November Skies" - Tomas Barfod ft. Nina Kinert

So yea, today I'm playing catch up for the past week.  This is another awesome track.  Tomas Barfod's November Skies, off his Salton Seas EP(available as of May 22nd of last year), is definitely worth a listen.

"Bright Whites" - Kishi Bashi

It's always nice when masterful music is accompanied by a masterful video, and Kishi Bashi's Bright Whites falls in both categories.  When you listen to this, you can't help but feel great, and even optimistic, making it a perfect song to help kick-off the new year.  It was definitely one of the best songs of 2012.  A veteran in his field, K. Ishibashi helped found Jupiter One, and tours alongside Regina Spektor and Of Montreal.  Enjoy the sounds and support the artist.  His album 151a is truly amazing to listen through.

"Leave it all Behind" - STRFKR

Here's a track released by Starfucker (STRFKR), an electronic indie band from Oregon.  It's right off their forthcoming album Miracle Mile, set to be released February 19, 2013.  Give it a listen.  It's quite a tantalizing preview of the album. If it's anything like their previous ones, will be a joy to listen to and an excellent record.
