"Fireworks of the Sea" - White Arrows (Amika Akaya Remix)

You might know him from his side-project Tribe of Zebras, but now Amika Akaya is putting out sounds solo.  This trap remix of the well received noise-pop group White Arrows is a good show, he hasn't lost his touch, and better is likely to come from him in the not too distant future.
Enjoy!

"Wolves" - Fossil Collective

This british band is set to have their debut, Tell Where I Lie, is due out April 8th, and has been much awaited.  To those of you in the UK or Ireland, they'll be touring throughout much of April and May, so definitely check them out.
Enjoy!

"How Deep Is Your Love" - Bee Gees (Pop Etc Cover)

In the wake of a night out, this is the perfect chill acoustic cover to listen to.  Enjoy!

"Diane Young" - Vampire Weekend

Coming out with their first album in three years, ish, Vampire Weekend is back with Modern Vampires of the City, and I have to say, what I've heard so far is pretty great.  They've released a couple singles off it, and color me impressed.  I'm expecting this album to best their last, Contra.  Enjoy!

"Brennisteinn" - Sigur Rós

Can you say new Sigur Rós!?  Oh gosh this is exciting.  Enjoy!
Still dreamy, except the dreaminess features more heavily as a backdrop than previous songs.  Released in anticipation of a new album due out in mid-June, and if this is any indication, I like where this is going.

"Ghost VS" - The Belligerents

This band is one of my favorites.  I really just can't get enough of them.  It saddens me so that they're from so far away, it will take a while for them to make their way to North America from all the way down under.  This band is real quality! Give them your support, they really deserve it.
With a new EP on the way, set for release later in the year, I can only hope it lives up to their past work.  Their She Calls The Shots EP is a staple in my good-mood music playlist.  If you aren't familiar with it, it's definitely worth checking out!
Enjoy!

"Electric City" - Memoryy

I guess I'm just feeling very poppy right now.  This guy is great.  The internet is such a gift when it comes to music.  You just stumble onto artist after artist, and you just discover.  Based out of New York, Shaun Hettinger is a gifted musician.  Electric, not over-produced, and well put together; he knows what he's doing.
Enjoy!

"Out Of My League" - Fitz and The Tantrums

What a great pop band.  Claim to fame with their hit "MoneyGrabber", which must have been a couple years ago now, they have a new album coming out in the near future.  The sort of music that will easily accompany any number of commercials and ads, this peppy production I have no doubt will make them staples of the summer of 2013.
Enjoy this leading single off their forthcoming album (of the same name: Out Of My League).

"Fever Dream" - Young Summer

This has such a great mix of sounds.  Synth-heavy darker-pop instrumentals with Florence + The Machine like vocal quality.  Really great bit of synth-pop.  You get the sense that this band knew what sound they wanted to put out, and then just did, exactly as planned and without a hitch.
Enjoy!

"Bring You Back" - Beacon

What a sound.  Downtempo, mellow, and perfectly enjoyable.  This track is really something.
Can't wait for more!

"Bad Motherfucker" - Biting Elbows

First person music videos are always really cool.  You've got Cinnamon Chasers "Luv Deluxe," Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up," and now Biting Elbows' "Bad Motherfucker." What an insane first person shooter style video.  In it, you see the world through the eyes of a spy/James Bond-esque character.  It features everything from combat sequences to car chases.  Check it out, and Enjoy!

"Entertainment" - Phoenix (Dinosaur Jr. Remix)

Check out Dinosaur Jr.'s  remix of Phoenix's "Entertainment."  They're giving it away on Soundcloud and its definitely worth checking out!  Just part of the usual pre-album hype-generating tactics, and I have to say, it's working.
Enjoy!

"Work! Work! Work!" - Stagecoach

First track off of Stagecoach' debut - set for release the 25th of March - has a kick but sound and video to go with it.  Can't wait to see them live, as they will without a doubt start touring in North America in the foreseeable future since they are already on a bunch of festival lineups, and have a UK tour lined up.

Enjoy!

"Easy" - Mat Zo & Porter Robinson

What a cool video!  Reminiscent of Daft Punk's videos for Discovery.  Enjoy!

"Ol' Speakeasy" - The Constellations

"Ol' Speakeasy" is probably my favorite song this group has created up to date.  They came out with their second album just last year, after their breakout Southern Gothic that came out in 2008, featuring their hits "We're Here to Save the Day," "Felicia," "Perfect Day,"and others.  I have to say though, every single song of theirs is something else.  From both albums.  Do It For Free is definitely worth a listen.  In fact, I'm going to share a stream of the whole album as well.  I'm going to say, because I always do, but it goes without saying: Enjoy!

"The Letter" - The Box Tops (Bakermat Remix)

Bakermat knows what's best.  A comment a friend of a friend made sums it all up so nicely: "It's the difference between a composer and a DJ, some can do both, but it's rare..."
Indeed this track is just so magnificently organized and constructed.  It really blends the original and his vision together incredibly well.  Enjoy!

"I'm On Fire" - Bruce Springsteen (Young Turks Cover)

A really beautiful acoustic cover of a classic Springsteen song.  This cover is part of charity initiative the group is taking: all the money they raise will go to the Green Acres Farm Sanctuary.  It's a $1 donation, and it's a beautiful cover and a good cause.
Enjoy!

"Woodpile" - Frightened Rabbit

The art of the music video is a subtle and intricate one.  A video can be the perfect tool the artist can use to direct the listener towards or away from his creative vision.  Frightened Rabbit, one of my preferred Indie bands of the the new millenium, has a really interesting video for one of the singles off Pedestrian Verse, their most recent album, which was released in February 2013.

The video seems to focus on the scene of a murder/accidental death.  Throughout, you always half expect a cut, to be followed by a sequence of events explaining the situation played in reverse.  Thankfully this never happens.  That's an all too familiar style for me.

On my first viewing, my critique was that they use a 70s style cop car and news camera, while everything else is very clearly happening in today's world: iPhones are present, more recent Crown Vics can be seen driving by in the background, the newscaster's haircut, the pedestrian crossing signals (NYC only recently replaced the "WALK" and "DON'T WALK" signs with a red hand and a pedestrian) and the bodega (deli, depanneur, etc...) all have elements of today's world.
No matter, these have all grown on me, they add to a decontextualizing and disorienting effect.

Enjoy!

"Evil Man" - Portugal. The Man

Portugal. The Man has been on a lot of people's radar for a while now.  Here's why.  Enjoy!

Trap a Tap Tap (NEW GENRE)

For you trap lovers, theres some good stuff (and some not so good stuff). For you Trap amateurs (like myself) listen up because this genre is kicking. Getting down with hip hop beats mixed with electronic synth, very good.

"The Recipe" - Kendrick Lamar feat. Dr. Dre

Something a little different today from the usual stuff but thats what its all about right? finding new music and sharing it. well this is what i found and i must say i like what i hear. A remix of kendrick lamars production, this track is inspired by the up and coming genre of Trap music, which has its good and bad moments, but all in all i am a fan. Trap to me sounds like a slowed down Dutch house, with much more hip hop tendencies in the beats. Check out trapdoor records too on soundcloud, pretty legit.

"Borderline" - Classixx

Video for the first single off Classixx' upcoming debut.  This song features Jesse Kivel of Kisses, which is another act definitely worth checking out.  Enjoy!

"No Diggity" - Extraordinary Magnitude vs. Blackstreet (Gramatik)

It seems like everything Gramatik releases is quality stuff.  This is no different.  Funky as can be, this mashup definitely makes you feel like chilling.  Gramatik is always a safe bet.

"Entertainment" - Phoenix

Here's the new music video for Phoenix's first single off their upcoming album Bankrupt!
Enjoy!

"New Alphabet" - Eels

A pulsing, driving guitar.  Tweeked vocals.  And wonderfully rhythmic percussions.  Only one thing to say, Eels has done it again.
This Wonderful, Glorious band has been around the block.  "Wonderful, Glorious" is their tenth studio album.  Any band that can put up with the music industry for 10 years without falling apart and still be putting out quality stuff deserves to be recognized as clearly staying power is not a necessarily mainstay of many artists.

"Summer Love" - Boo Williams

Feel like kicking back? A nice calm soundtrack for working or lounging...

"Hold On When You Get Love And Let Go When You Give It" - Stars (Sem Thomasson Remix)

A brand new house remix of "Hold On When You Get Love And Let Go When You Give It."  Stars have really achieved something amazing with their latest album, The North, and the quality of the remixes that I keep hearing popping up around the web is a real testament to that.  Enjoy!
